Help Track Migratory Birds at Fort Morgan Banding Station
Each year thousands of migratory birds make Fort Morgan, at the mouth of Mobile Bay, their last jumping off point or landing zone.
And there to meet them are often the volunteers at the Fort Morgan Banding Station. The banding station is the home to The Hummer/Bird Study Group, a non-profit group dedicated to the preservation and study of hummingbirds and other Neo-tropical migrants.
According to the study group:
We have documented fourteen species in the eastern United States; Ruby-throated, Rufous, Black-chinned, Allen’s, Anna’s, Calliope, Buff-bellied, Broad-tailed, White-eared, Green Violet-ear, Magnificent, Green-breasted Mango and Broad-billed and Costa’s.
To be a part of this educational and uplifting environmental activity, or for more information visit the station’s Web site.
